About the Contest
Building a Better Boyertown's Mural Committee sought artists to submit a design only for consideration for the side of the Rita's Water Ice building. The contest was open to artists aged 15 and up and advertised in the school district, local art programs, and online. The design "should express an overall positive message of some or all of the following themes: unity, peace, hope, love, kindness, community, and/or that Boyertown is a welcoming place for all people."
The committee has voted and selected the top three designs submitted, which were then showcased for an online public vote. After thousands of votes were counted, the winning design was announced. The design will be painted by a professional mural artist on the building and the design artist will receive $500 cash prize. Second and third place design artists will also receive a prize of $200 and $100 respectively.

• Committee Review & Selections: week of June 12th
• Public Voting of Top 3 Designs: begins week of June 12th
• Winner Announced: June 21st
• Mural installation: estimated by end of September 2023
