If you’re looking for a bakery that makes everything from scratch – using fruit from their own orchards – or a place to select your own fruit right from the tree – visit Frecon Farms, an institution in the Boyertown area for the last 75 years. Every summer since 1944, Frecon has grown cherries, peaches, plums, blueberries, nectarines, raspberries, apples and pears, plus a huge variety of fresh vegetables that come in season all summer long. During the UPick season in the fall, the orchard swells with fruit. Five years ago, they changed everything to make room for their very own scratch bakery, using seasonal fruit and the finest whole ingredients in pies, cookies, breads, donuts, sweet breads, and more, made fresh daily. Plus, they began crafting their own cider from heirloom fruit in flavors like Early Man, Crabby Granny, Hogshead, and Farmhouse, Apfelwein and Scrumpy Estate. Frecon also offers wines from Blair Vineyards and Maple Springs Vineyards, meads from Stonekeep Meadery and locally sourced milk, meats and cheese from farm partners throughout the area.
